Study English in South Africa

193671_jozie_skyline_1If you’re a football fan and you love learning English, South Africa could be the place for you to study this summer!

The main centres for English language teaching are in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. You’ll be able to enjoy watching football in all theses cities and get out to see the sights when you’re not studying or in the stadium.

If you’re in Cape Town, remember to visit Table Mountain. It’s in a national park and there is even the chance to sleep on top of the mountain for a night if you’re feeling adventurous. For a more relaxing day out, take a trip to one of the vineyards surrounding the city. They produce world-class wines and I’ve heard that a nice glass of wine before practising English can help a lot with fluency!

In Durban, adventurous types can try surfing and more laid back travellers can enjoy the city’s shopping malls and bars. Durban also has the largest Indian community in South Africa, so if you enjoy Indian food, this could be the place for you!

Although only 18% of Johannesburg residents speak English at home, it’s still a good place to learn English if you like the city lifestyle. Remember, though, crime is a serious problem in Johannesburg, so this is only a destination for experienced travellers.

Studying English in South Africa can be a rewarding experience and is not usually as expensive as going to the UK or US. If you love football, enjoy the great outdoors and are a confident traveller, South Africa could be the ideal place for you to learn English.
