On Manhattan Island, you will find branches of all the famous English schools. It’s where most of the famous landmarks and shops are, too.
Manhattan Island is a really expensive place to stay, though and it can be difficult to find an apartment if you are only staying for a short time.
Lots of English learners in New York nowadays choose to study and stay in Brooklyn. Brooklyn used to be a rough neighbourhood but if you go there today, you are more likely to find organic restaurants and cafes than the gangs and drug dealers of the past.
Brooklyn is still cheaper than Manhattan and because the area is very multicultural, there are a lot of local people learning English as well as exchange students. It’s easy to get to Manhattan, too if you want to do some shopping or visit all the tourist hotspots.
