A pun is a joke which relies on words which have more than one meaning or that sound like other words. Some people find them annoying or cheesy but I love them!
Anyway, an article on the ABC news website attracted my attention today because of the pun in its title:
Offal news for NZ drivers
The pun here is between the words ‘offal’ and ‘awful’. ‘Offal’ is the organs inside an animals (E.g. heart, kidneys, etc.) which can be eaten as food and ‘awful’ means very bad.
I would be offaly upset if that truck spilled its cargo on the road in front of me!
